General Guidelines on Center Closure

You should assume, unless otherwise notified, that JSC is open each regular workday, regardless of weather or other emergency conditions that may develop.

Normally, you are expected to cope with bad weather and difficult driving conditions. However, when emergency situations arise which may prevent the opening of JSC, prevent you from getting to work, or create the necessity to dismiss employees, you should listen to radio or television news, call the JSC Emergency Information Line (EIL) at 281-483-3351 (1-877-283-1947 toll free) or the JSC Employee News Service line at 281-483-6765 for any recorded messages and follow any JSC instructions relating to the situation.

Emergency situations are generally those which may prevent a significant number of employees from reporting to or staying at work. Only the Center Director and the Director of Human Resources have authority to close all or part of the Center.

Managers who believe some or all of their employees should be released (for instance for a power failure in their building or other hazardous condition), must contact the Director of Human Resources for advice and assistance in resolving the situation. JSC Procurement Advisory Notice 9-1 governs the release of contractor personnel.
